Absolutely a hidden gem among all the Japanese restaurants in the area. The space itself is inviting and intimate without being stuffy, coupled with a small sushi bar. Pricing is reasonable, especially with the quality fish and their attention-to-detail. Even their basic sashimi/nigiri comes beautifully presented with thoughtful garnishes. The unagi specifically has a wonderful char that blends smokiness with sweetness. You can tell the owners put a lot of care into every aspect of the restaurant. YUZU SALMON: Must order for salmon lovers. Perfect balance of savoriness and yuzu brightness. SAKE BOMB: The marinade is heavenly. MIXED TEMPURA: Probably the best we’ve had in SoCal. Zero oiliness, perfect crunch, tender fillings. So fresh! SPICY GARLIC EDAMAME: Perfectly seasoned, just the right amount of spice with buttery garlic.

Went in for a quick bite mid-afternoon and ended up staying for an early dinner. Sat at the sushi bar, ordered nigiri; yellowtail, kurodai, tuna and salmon, mixed tempura, and green teas that were better than expected. The iced was this cloudy matcha situation in case you like that type of iced tea. Excited to see kurodai on the menu. There were a few specials but we stuck to the basics for this round. Everything came out beautifully presented and the fish was genuinely fresh across the board. The crispy rice is the move. Caramelized, warm, light spicy tuna on top. Comes heavy on the sauce so just know that going in. We will ask for a lighter touch next time but it was still delicious. Easy parking, no wait, fair prices, great space (cool art! chill vibe) Long Beach top three sushi. No question.

Sushi kinoya is a hidden gem! My girlfriend and I were looking for a new experience and we found it. Right away this place caught our attention it was clean, inviting and I loved their neon lights and decor. Especially their Akira poster! The owners/staff were very kind and attentive, we loved the jazz they were playing while we browsed and ate our meal. Now to the sushi!!! It was amazing fresh, and pieces just melted in our mouths! The photos speak for themselves just take a look. This is our new favorite sushi date spot. It's got a romantic quiet and classy vive.

My wife and I frequent many Japanese restaurants and this has become our favorite local spot. The menu is full of authentic and delicious options as well as the common comfort treats. The staff is attentive and kind and I can sense a real care to their House Special Recipes. Today we had the Chirashi and Tekka Don and they were both perfect. We also had the Truffle Hamachi Roll but devoured it before we could take pictures

Mellow local sushi with better fish. Their willingness to use fatter cuts of salmon is really all I need to trust. The fatter side of me would hope for more pieces per cut sushi order, but great taste and friendly service more than make up for it!
